Bohinj

Firstly, do you know Bohinj means God? If you want to find out why, slide down to Bohinj history or click this link.

First, all of the people who heard that were surprised. But in Slovenia there is a small valley called the Bohinj valley that is located near Bled. It has also a lake like the Bled Lake, but it’s twice bigger. Bohinj is located in the Triglav National Park which is the most famous of parks in Slovenia.

The T.N.P. is located in the Julian Alps which are part of the Alps. They stretch from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2864 meters at Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia and also all former Yugoslavia.

Secondly, as we said Bohinj is located near Bled (only 20 km away). Bohinj is also known for its’ Glacier Lake. It’s colder then the Bled Lake because it has many inflows, but it is much more clean. In the summer it has an average temperature of 22 C, so it’s perfect in hot July and August to swim in it.

In the last years there are two boats driving a round trip in the Bohinj Lake. They are on electric (because of the rules of the Triglav National park) and can drive up to 75 persons. On the boat you also have an explanation in 3 languages about Bohinj history, places to visit, where can you do sports, get guides, borrow equipment and so on.

At the Bohinj valley you can also go to Mount Vogel. You can go up there with a cable car. It is the most modern cable car in Slovenia and the third steepest in Europe. Its capacity is over 80 people. From the upper station of the cable car you have a amazing panorama of the whole Bohinj region and also a very good starting-point for hiking trips to the local mountains.

When to travel to Ljubljana?

So in the previous post we talked about what to do and what to visit in Ljubljana. In this post I want to tell you when to travel there.

Summers are quite hot, and the hotel rooms are a little bit expensively, but not that much. You can find cheap youth hostels that can offer you the same luxury with low prices. Summers in Ljubljana are full of festive s and cultural entertainment, with lots of tourist wanting to visit every one of them.

Autumn is the best season time. The heat turns off. The trees are getting brown, with falling leaves. Usually it is a bit rainy, but a true tourist dose not care about that to much, does he? The hotels are cheaper and not crowded.

Winters are colder, with snow. This is the time of decoration. Starting in November and lasting till the end of January. In this time you can see the whole glamor of Ljubljana. There is a lot of happening in the streets and around. Ljubljana covered in snow, lights and fireworks almost every weekend. Especially at night you will be amassed.

Spring s in Ljubljana are much the same as autumns, just vice versa. The trees getting green, all bursting and growing, with the smell of charming roses and green grass, it is a quite nice time to visit the town. It can offer you a lot
